2013 Woodlot Owner of the Year
A woodlot owner of Val D'Amour, Luc Lurette, purchased his first woodlot in 1996. It was only a few years before that Mr. Lurette began doing silviculture work on his father's land, which encompasses a total of 40 hectares ( 100 acres ) that he eventually bought in 1996 to add to his properties for a total of 172 hectares ( 425 acres ) in the area of Malauze, Val D'Amour and St-Isidore.
Mr Lurette began doing silviculture work on his land in 1996. Among these activities we find semi-commercial thinning, pre-commercial thinning, selective cutting, release cutting and plantations on the majority of his lots. Mr. Lurette has spent a lot of time ensuring he managed his woodlots in a sustainable manner, a true example of a devoted owner.
More than adequate, the work Mr. Lurette has performed over the past several years serves as a model of what a healthy and prosperous woodlot is suppoed to look like. Therefore, the title of 2013 Woodlot Owner of The Year, bestowed him today, is one that is richly deserved.
